Melba Hunter, 90, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at River Pointe Health Campus. She was born September 3, 1922, in Evansville, to the late Ralph and Helen (Walther) Mayes.
She graduated from Bosse High School and Lockyear Business College. She was employed at Sigeco for 40 plus years. Melba was a lifelong member of Olivet Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Board of Deacons and taught Sunday school. She had many caring friends from Olivet. She had a deep devotion to her parents and sister, "Dody."
Melba was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford Hunter; parents; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Barrett Sanders; and aunt and uncle, Herbert and Grace Mayes.
She is survived by her niece, Carol Parmenter; and great-niece, Michelle Parmenter Grossman.
Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 26, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Dave Mills, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
